Inspired in the feathers that decorated the Kopillis (headdresses), which were a symbol of power and social status in the Mexica culture. Quetzal, humming bird, and other exotic birds feathers along with gold, jade, and other precious metals were used to make the Kopillis. Rulers and members of the high nobility used them as a symbol of respect and wisdom. Warriors competed in duels and the winner took a feather from his opponent and placed it on his own Kopilli. The most famous Aztec headdress belonged to Emperor Moctezuma and it is currently in exhibition at the Museum of Ethnology in Vienna, Austria.
