Inspired in the elements drawn in the Boturini Codex, also known as the Tira de la Peregrinación (Pilgrimage Strip). In this Codex the Mexicas or Aztecs represented their migration from the mythical city of Aztlán until their arrival to the Valley of México (México City). According to the legend, Huitzilopochtli, main deity of the aztecs, told them to leave Aztlán and travel until they found the promised sign, an eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, devouring a snake, which they found in a small island in the middle of the Texcoco lake, at the center of the Valley of México. Over that lake they founded the Great city of Tenochtitlán, capital of the most powerful empire in Mesoamerica.
